this is awful, honestly, people talk about how taylor “teaches young girls to base their self-worth on who they’re dating or if they’re dating anyone” and it’s SO ironic because that’s what the media and so many people do to her, they base taylor’s worth on who she’s dating. and it’s ALWAYS her, like other artists get asked every once in a while, but she always gets asked in every interview and even when they pretend to focus on something else like her music (because she’s a singer remember, not just a girl who dates boys) you can tell that they’re just disappointed she won’t talk about her private life and share everything like it’s her job to tell them who she’s dating or if she’s dating anyone or if she has a crush on anyone or who was that boy she was standing next to for like 5 seconds, is she dating him now? and it must be so frustrating.
I’m just going to add, that this is probably the reason Taylor doesn’t talk about her private life like this, because some sick bitch will go and twist it, and it comes out even worse for her.
Has it occured to anoyne that the reason why the media treats her like that because she brings it on herself. Her music is generally based on her dating experiences, and she is best known for making her music about her life and those experiences. So you can’t blame anyone for placing that expection of her being open about her private life when she’s made it her signature to sing about her private life as well as those of others. She’s basically asking for that kind of attention.
She has said she doesn’t like talking about her love life because she puts everything into her songs. You saying that she somehow brings it upon herself that people only care about her love life and base her worth on who she is dating actually reminds me of something like what a rapist would say: “you appear to always want to talk about your love life so it must be so” versus “you dress like you want to sleep with someone so it must be so”
She has done so many notable things other than writing openly about her love life too by the way. It’s not like her love life is the only thing they could be talking about, for example her selling out stadiums in Australia, a feat by a female artist that was last achieved only by Madonna. Also notable is her staggering first week and overall album sales, and her charitableness - ironically, this gif set is from a charity event in aid of the young homeless.
The point is, Taylor Swift is not the problem (the problem being that people judge a female’s worth on who and how many she dates), the media and those who follow it are. (Or it’s the other way round; those who are the consumers of the articles and newspapers and magazines etc dictate what the producers of the aforementioned forms of media put out, thus making this issue societal).
